Today finds the boaters in Lantzville doing the house things getting caught up. Its great to come home to a nice yard that hasn't been too dry as Maggie was here watering the plants on her way to Rivers Inlet.
We had a great trip back from Tofino. We stayed one night in Quaitt Bay and went around Meares Island then headed to the Broken Group.Overnigthing in Effingham Bay wehada fabulous steak supper and watched the sunset. Also could hear the Sound Wave concert from about 15 miles away!!
The winds were not in our direction coming home and we had a lot of fog in the Juan De Fuca but it was sort of beautiful and as we have radar so is not a great fear that we will hit another ship. Fog can be cold but that day the sun was shining through the fog.Wayne even had a nap below and I listened to my Ipod until the battery died. We also saw the Amsterdam coming in on their Friday run and called the Bridge to see if anyone was there we knew.
It was a long day before we sighted Race Rocks and finally pulled into CFSA docks for the night. We went up for last call to the bar, too late to get to see Warren at the Bard and Banker. Next day we headed to stayed in James Bay a favorite little place of mine and had a great kayak around the bay before supper.
The next day was a great sailing day and we sailed all the way Ruxton Island where we spent the night. Next day was a great kayak day again and we went over to Pirate's Cove.
Slipped through Dodds Narrows before slack and anchored at Newcastle Island.Kayaked again over to Dinghy Dock for fish and chips and then off to the dock at the base for clean up and off to home.
Then to make my day complete I won a crab trap with a float line and bait holder from the Liquor store. What another great day.

Tofino Rain

When is the last time you got to read and have a long luxurious nap listening to the rain coming down tied to a fish boat at a dock?.If you haven't tried it lately you really are missing something.

We are on another trip on the WAYSHEGOES. We started out from Nanaimo and went to Montague Harbour for one night then on to Victoria. We had a lovely anniversary supper at Warren's pub the Bard and Banker. I quite enjoy that pub and the yam fries are wonderful. We get a kick out of Warren wearing a skirt (kilt) at work.We had a day at the CFSA pub and then took off to the Broken Group but it was pretty foggy so pulled into Sooke for the night. We like to leave early when having a long day and at 5am the water is peaceful. We got to the Broken Group and stayed two nights. This was some of the best weather ever here. It was 80-90 degrees on the thermometer in the afternoon so we stayed a couple of nights. Beautiful kayaking around there.I got up in the morning and now its a routine I take my coffee and paddle around having a good start to my day. The Broken Group is a fabulous group of Islands that belong to the Pacific Rim Park. There were not many boats there and a few kayakers who really didn't speak to us much not that I didn't try.SO then we headed into Ucuelet and met our BlueWater Cruising Group and went out to the bluewater which was to be a week but after the first day and into the night although the boat handled everything just fine we needed more crew. Wayne and I didn't get any rest as it was 22 knot winds and rough seas.If we had had a relief crew we probably would have managed but he had the courage to turn back and that is what we did. Got into Tofino 13:30 yesterday. Now its rain rain and more of the same so we hunkered down and here we are napping. What a good life we have made for ourselves.

Home at Last

I am home with my beloved. It was a great trip up to Haid Gwaii and I had a lot of fun with Sheila and Marvin Boyd and Morgan at her graduation festivities. Sheila treated me like a queen and I ate her food like a true pig. I said I would have left sooner but she is such a good cook. I hitchhiked back to Masset with two live crabs crawling around in my back pack and even told one driver she had picked up soemone with crabs. At the balancing rock I thought I was going to be stuck there but soemone came along.

The flight home was so specatcular over the mountains in the sun I was once again reminded how this is the best possible place to live in the whole world. We finished the Fathers Day with a lovely take out order of Dover Bay Chinese food.

Today I watered all the plants and nothing has died. I have a few blooms on the tomatoes so I am going to get Irene Pages' ( one of the 94 year old in the hospital) tomato set at the store and hopefully there will be tomatoes before too long. Sheila

Last night shift in Masset.

Well the last night shift in Masset. So far no Emergency cases. Talked to one resident for an hour or so about all her aches and pains and her tomoato plants that are in the common room. She planted the seeds and then sold the small plants and bought potting soil with it. Everyone gets into the tomato thing at the hospital here. Today they started cucumbers so they will be waiting for those to come now. I have been singing with an old woman here who you would think was on her last legs but after we harmonized to Blackbird last night she said "not bad for two old women". She meant me. I am sure her eye sight is off as she is 94 or maybe I actually look that old!! It rained the day before this but today the sun was so hot and bright I almost got my sunglasses out. There is nothing like the Charlottes when the sun is out.
I have my bag all packed and tomorrow one of the other nurses adn I are flying out on the daily jet out of Masset. I am glad to go I like to come but and glad to go home. HOWA S.
Does anybody read this?? S
